Employment Opportunity for Youth
Program Administrator
Employment Period: August 2024 to January 2025 (6 Months), with a possibility for extension
Hours per week: 7 hours (flexible), with a possibility to increase working hours.
Eligibility to Apply: Between 18-30 years of age – eligible to work in Canada. Youth from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
Salary: $23 hour plus 4% vacation
Job Location: Remote within Ottawa, with a few in-person working sessions.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Youth Safe Space Canada in partnership with Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode Community Resource Centre, is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Program Administrator to provide administrative support for their youth empowerment program.
YSS Canada www.ysscanada.ca is a YOUTH-serving organization across Ottawa with a mission to empower youth, especially those underrepresented, offering holistic support and resources to help them achieve their full potential.
The Program Administrator is responsible for facilitating youth training and sessions, assisting with community outreach, registration, pre/post program preparations, service delivery, and helping to build long-lasting connections with youth participants.
This individual is collaborative and works at a fast pace to timely and efficiently deliver services to program participants. The administrator aims to build strong supportive relationships with the organization’s stakeholders, partners, and community in general. They are adaptable and can work comfortably independently and as part of a team.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate all aspects of the program under the guidance of the Programs Director, ensuring alignment with program objectives and requirements.
Perform outreach activities to recruit youth to participate in the program.
Empower youth to identify social challenges and develop strategies for change by providing accessible and inclusive services to enhance community belonging among youth.
Facilitate youth training and sessions while engaging with program volunteers.
Plan and coordinate workshops and activities, including social/professional networking activities, program launches, and other related events.
Facilitate youth valuable connections with professionals to foster guidance, motivation, and practical insights.
Ensure effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and service providers.
Maintain client confidentiality and privacy, adhering to privacy guidelines
Assist with administrative tasks such as petty cash, cheque requests, purchasing, and expense records & reporting.
Conduct interviews, and surveys, and collect data for learning & reporting as well as documenting participants’ testimonies.
Assisting with communications to ensure regular communications and content are created for the program.
Participate in meetings, training, and professional development initiatives.
Perform other duties as may be required and related to the position.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Post-secondary education in administration, management or related experience in a community setting
Experience working with diverse communities, and knowledge of related community resources
Experience in working with children and youth in a community setting
Demonstrated experience in administrative work.
Proficiency in the use of computer and various software applications
Experience in in organizing and leading activities is a strong asset.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Experience in in organizing and leading activities is a strong asset.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively and negotiate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and volunteers
Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
English is essential, other languages are considered an asset
Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check is required upon hire.
